New stuff

Been to Oslo the last few days working, and now Im so sick and tired of traveling, that Im staying in Bergen!!

Well, anyway, got some time to do my fav activity: shop! So I headed for Grunerløkka in Oslo and found some nice stuff at Fretex Unika and Velouria Vintage. The first top is from Veoluria and is covered with white sequins: perfect for a night out with a white tee and some stonewashed jeans. The second is from Fretex Unika and was just what I needed up here in the cold north: a woolen sweather in a happy colour!

Color Me Badd

I just got these from H&M for 129,-. Its funny, Im having a complete shopping stop and not going into any shop, but still I saw this girl at the supermarket who got these on and I had to asked where they were from...rest is history. Anyway, I dont have that much color in my closet  a la this, being to afraid of getting all 2007-looking, but I think I can avoid it. Color can be good for me.

Dry spot

Dear readers! Im in a dry spot these days. It happens you know! Days when you feel anything you put on is ugly and you are ugly and nothing goes with nothing and everybody else looks fabulous in these cold times and you have no idea how they manage! IM THERE!! So what do I do...well, I just have to wait for the weather to get warmer and drier, while I read good blogs about people doing it way better than me at the moment:)

This is one of them, its called Emsegde, and is a girl name Emma from Sweden who is the assistant stylist of Elin Kling (thanks for the tip Mia;)). Check it out!

Mens du leser dette er Oslo Fashion Week i gang i hovedstaden, noe som innebærer mange sultne, men vakre jenter, trendye bransjefolk, storkjøpere, kjendiser, og Pia Haraldsen. Uken byr på motevisninger i DogA om dagen og høy sigarføring på Solli plass om kvelden, og blir toppet av Moods of Norway guttas kjempekalas på fredag. 

 

Med andre ord har Oslo kastet seg på moteuke-bølgen som slo over verden på begynnelsen av 2000 tallet.  Før var disse ukene forbeholdt motehovedstadene Milano, New York, Paris og London, men ble etter hvert spredt til andre land og byer for å promotere designere der. I de nevnte byene er allikevel oppstyret rundt moteuken størstog begivenheten skjer to ganger i året. I januar/februar vises vinterkolleksjonene for kommende vinter, mens det i ukene i september er sommerkolleksjonene som står for tur. Dette er såkalte pret-a-porter (ready to wear) visninger, klær som er klare til å bli gått med.  Til dere som kritiserer disse visningene, og mener at disse klærne er alt for spesielle å gå med, har dere helt rett. Klærne du ser på her er ikke nødvendigvis de som havner i butikken, men selve illusjonen og stemningen i plaggene er den samme. Fargebruken, mønsteret og stoffet er beholdt, mens klærne er tilpasset hverdagslivet.

 

Utenom pret-a-porter, finnes tre andre kategorier i motevisninger; haute couture-, production- og såkalte trade-show. Haute couture-uken  foregår hver sesong bare i Paris, og er forbeholdt designere listet i lovverket til Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Paris.  Trade show er for ukjente designere og er en litt billigere affære, mens production-shows er bare arrangert for kunsten eller underholdningens skyld.  Et eksempel på slike visninger er når Karl Lagerfeld i 2007 arrangerte et storslått show for Fendi på den kinesiske mur. Det mye omtalte Victoria Secret-showet er et annet eksempel.

 

Som mange andre industrier er også moteindustrien all about politics. For motebyene er det alltid en organisasjon som ser over hele uken, som for eksempel British Fashion Council i London. Mange av visningene foregår på et og samme sted, mens de største merkene som oftest har sine egne lokaliteter. I tillegg til å skape det beste showet i form av klær og høste de beste kritikkene, handler det i større og større grad om å skape mest mulig oppstyr rundt showet. En god del arbeid legges ned i valg av spennende beliggenhet og kreativ catwalk-design, samt en god PR-jobb for å få den mest attraktive første raden under uken.

 

Mye handler om det sistnevnte. Får du en Vogue-redaktør, Olsen tvilling eller it-girl til å komme på visningen din, er mesteparten av jobben gjort. The front row blir en motevisning i seg selv, og hver visning har i tillegg til bilder av selve modellene på catwalken, bilder av kjendisene på første rad. Når Anna Wintour møtte opp ikledd pels på den dyrevennlige Stella McCartney sin visning i fjor høst, ble visningen fort the talk on the town. Her hjemme fikk Iselin Engan ekstra oppmerksomhet når Mette-Marit tok turen til hennes visning under OFW, og har i år fått æren av å avslutte uken i Oslo med sin visning. Med andre ord er moteuken ikke bare bare, men et godt forum for småfolk å bli storfolk. Og for Pia Haraldsen til å være Pia Haraldsen.
